How to use Different Educational Technologies

Activity 1

To use a desktop, 

Step 1: Turn it on
                Turn on the main switch, then the CPU, and finally the monitor. 

Step 2: Create an account
               If you're logging in for the first time, you might need to create an account. 

Step 3: Use the keyboard and mouse
               The keyboard lets you type, and the mouse controls the pointer on the screen. On a laptop, you can use the trackpad instead of a mouse.

Step 4: Use multiple desktops
               In Windows, you can create multiple desktops by selecting the Task view icon on the taskbar, then selecting New desktop. To switch to another desktop, select Task view again. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Windows + D to open a new desktop, Windows + CTRL + F4 to close a desktop, and Windows + CTRL + Left arrow / Right arrow to navigate between desktops. 

Step 5: Use desktop mode in Google Chrome
               On an Android device, you can turn on desktop mode in Google Chrome by opening Chrome, tapping More on the right of the address bar, selecting Settings, selecting Site settings under “Advanced,” and turning on Desktop site. 
             Desktops are computers that are used for everyday tasks like web browsing, document editing, email management, and multimedia consumption.

To use a laptop

Step 1: 
             If you are using the laptop in your home, find an outlet and plug the charger in.

Step 2: 
             Place the bottom part of the laptop on the table/desk you are sitting in front of.

Step 3: 
             Lift the lid to open up until the screen looks comfortable for you. 

Step 4: 
             Find the power button and turn it on. 

To use a Tablet 

Step 1: Power On :
               Locate the power button (usually on the side or top).Press and hold it until the screen lights up.

Step 2: Unlock :
            If locked, swipe up or enter your PIN/password/pattern.

Step 3: Navigation :
Home Screen: The main screen with app icons.
Touch: Tap icons to open apps.
Swipe: Move between home screens or within apps.
Back Button: Usually at the bottom; goes back to the previous screen.

Step 4: Basic Operations :
Open Apps: Tap the app icon.
Close Apps: Swipe up from the bottom (may vary) to see open apps, then swipe them away.
Type: Tap inside a text field and use the on-screen keyboard.

Step 5: Connect to Wi-Fi :
Go to "Settings" (usually a gear icon).
Find "Wi-Fi" and select your network.
Enter the password, if required.

Step 6: Explore : 
Experiment with apps and settings.
Download new apps from the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

To use Iphone

Step 1: Turn on your iPhone 
                Press and hold the device's power button until you see the Apple logo. You'll then see "Hello" in many languages. Follow the onscreen instructions to get started. 
               If you're blind or have low vision, you can turn on VoiceOver or Zoom from the Hello screen.

Step 2: Choose the size of text and icons on your phone
                Select your preferred size for text and icons: Default, Medium, or Large. As you slide the icon between those sizes, the text and images on this Appearance screen will change so you can preview the selected option.
                When ready, slide the icon to your preferred size and tap Continue. 

Step 3: Use Quick Start or set up manually
               If you have another device, you can use it to automatically set up your new device with Quick Start.
              If you don't have another device, tap Set Up Without Another Device.
              Here you can tap the blue accessibility button to set up Accessibility Options.

Step 4: Activate your iPhone 
               You need to connect to a Wi-Fi network or a cellular network to activate and continue setting up your device.
               Tap the Wi-Fi network that you want to use or, if available, tap Continue Without Wi-Fi to use your device's cellular network. If you're setting up an iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular), you might need to insert your iPhone SIM card or iPad SIM card first. You might also be asked to activate your eSIM.
                Get help if you can't connect to Wi-Fi or if you can't activate your iPhone.

Step 5: Set up for you or for a child
                Next, choose whether to set up your iPhone for you or for a child. Learn how to create a new Apple Account for a child under 13, how to set up Family Sharing, and how to use parental controls on a child's iPhone. 

Step 6: Set up Face ID or Touch ID and create a passcode
                Follow the onscreen instructions to set up Face ID or Touch ID to use face recognition or your fingerprint to unlock your device and make purchases.
               Next, set a six-digit passcode to help protect your data. You need a passcode to use features like Face ID, Touch ID, and Apple Pay. If you'd like a four-digit passcode, custom passcode, or no passcode, tap Passcode Options.

Step 7: Restore or transfer your data and apps
                 Choose how you want to restore or transfer your data from your old device to your new device. You can use an iCloud backup or a backup made from your computer, or move data from an Android device.
                  If you don't have a backup or another device, select Don't Transfer Apps & Data.

Step 8: Sign in with your Apple Account or another Apple device
                Enter the email address or phone number that you use with your Apple Account, then enter your password. Or tap "Forgot password or don't have an Apple Account?" From there, you can recover your Apple Account or password, create an Apple Account, or set it up later.
                 If you use more than one Apple Account, tap Other Sign-In Options, then tap Use Multiple Accounts.
                 When you sign in with your Apple Account, you might be prompted for a verification code from your previous device. 

Step 9: Turn on automatic updates and set up other features

             Follow the onscreen instructions to allow iOS or iPadOS to update automatically and set up other features, like cellular service and a phone number or Apple Pay:

You'll be asked to set up or enable services and features, like Siri. On some devices, you'll be asked to speak a few phrases so that Siri can get to know your voice.

Then, follow the onscreen instructions to set up Screen Time, which gives you insight into how much time you and your kids spend on your devices. It also lets you set time limits for daily app use.

Next, learn about the data you can share with Apple and choose whether to share data with app developers.

Finally, tap on Light or Dark to see a preview of how your iPhone adjusts. Tap Auto to have your iPhone automatically switch between both throughout the day. When ready, tap Continue to finish.

To Use Android Phone

Step 1: 
Insert a SIM card: This gives your phone service.
 
Step 2:
Turn on your phone: Press and hold the power button. 

Step 3: 
Connect to Wi-Fi: This allows you to access the internet.
 
Step 4: 
Set up a screen lock: You can use a passcode or face ID. 

Step 5:
Add a Google account: You can use this account to access your Google services.
 
Step 6: 
Download apps: You can use the Google Play Store or App Store to download apps. 

Step 7:
Make calls and send texts: You can do this by tapping the phone or messages icon on your home screen.
 
Step 8:
Add contacts: You can add a contact by tapping the phone icon, entering their number, and then tapping Add to Contacts.
